Thoughts and Reflections

Stealing is not good, but it is better to save a life by stealing than loosing one just because you knew you wanted to do the right thing. I think that I would feel really bad if I'd denied food or something to someone who needs it and then dies because they didn't have what I had. People should share what they don't need. For example if I grow vegetables in my yard, I should only keep what I need for living and what is left I could share it. In my case I think I would rather help before having someone steal me. I think that also Leisel and Rudy didn't harm anyone by stealing, so I don't consider it wrong in their case. Anyways they were starving.

Stealing!

Stealing...what do we automatically think? WRONG! Yes, stealing is a sin, and if you steal you are taking away something that is not yours. But, have you ever thought how do Leisel and Rudy must have felt when they were extremely RAVENOUS and then they see food that's not theirs? The first thing that would pop to anyone's mind is go...steal it. Maybe they should've asked the guy for some food, or even worked for him, but when you're hungry you do anything to feed yourself. Also, in this case stealing is not that wrong because Rudy and Leisel could've died of hunger, and they didn't do it for bad purposes. It is better to save a life than to lose it. As well, Leisel doesn't have a good education, and she doesn't have anyone teaching her what is right and what is wrong.

Book Thief Prediction

I predict that Leisel will become a stronger person while this time of the Holocaust. First of all because she will learn to appreciate everything she has, and she will be good with her foster parents. Second because all the books she's been stealing will strengthen her knowledge. (Even though she barely knows how to read.) I think she will share these books with others living in hiding too. At the end I expect Leisel dies, because in the prologue Death said he saw her only 3 times..so why not a fourth? The answer is because that was the last time she was alive. Death sees people for last time until they're dead. As well, I predict that Leisel will reunite with her real mother before she dies, so she can have her happy moment with her mom. I also believe that maybe she will get to meet her father or if he died at least know the story about him.

Anita's Diary!

July, 1961

Anita is happy because she is having some sort of communication with Oscar. Also she is trying to make herself look more beautiful for Oscar. During supper Anita, Mom, and Oscar's parents talked about how people don't use their full potential, and compared them to rice.

July 28, 1961

There have been many rallies, and the SIM are arrestying people and doing house-to- house searches because of this. Mr. Mancini are trying to look for Anita's and Mom's way out of the country. There were no more book deliveries because Tía Mari sent her kids to the beach because of the rallies, it's too dangerous. Mami and Anita are fighting again. They can't concentrate in anything and when theyu play cards Mami asks where is the Queen of hearts!

Before We Free #2

I think that this is making her more private to herlself because during the day she mostly only talks to her mom and Mr. and Mrs. Mancini. As well, not breathing oxygen coming directly from the trees and not seeing the world can be traumatizing. Also she got very depressed because she couldn't see her family. The good thing is that you start gaining more patience and strength because she had to wait until finally they were free. I certainly think I would get these effects, because everyone needs to socialize and run outside or change their environment. Maybe another unforseen effect could be like stop eating or loneliness. For example Anne Frank also had to live in hiding because Hitler was killing all the Jews. She suffered a lot too, and actually Anne and Anita both became "señoritas" in the stories. Anne had more space, but she didn't eat as well as Anita did. Also, Anne had to stay for a longer time hiding, but at least Anita got the wings to fly and reach freedom.

Before we Were Free..!

I think that what Tio Toni and Anita's dad are doing is very dangerous for the family. First of all because they could get killed and then Anita's mom will have to be a mother and a father to the kids. As well, it could get the SIM back to Anita's house and this time they could really disappear them. I think that it is correct that they are fighting for their freedom, but it shouldn't be that way. Trujillo has a bigger army who could kill anyone in any second, so they should really try to create a very complex plan. For example, instead of killing Trujillo they can try to get help from other powerful countries so that they can "get out of office" Trujillo. This way they could reach their dream...freedom.

My favorite book..

The best book I've ever read is "The Summer Sherman Loved Me!" The author is Jane St. Anthony. It is a very sweet, funny and exciting book. It keeps you wanting to keep reading it on and on. This is a book where girls can realate to because you understand how the characters feel. Also it is very interesting because it takes place in different locations and you can always picture it. This book is amazing! I love it. =D
