Swerved: to make a sudden change in direction, often to avoid a collision, or make something change direction suddenly
Mangled: destroy somebody or something by crushing or violent tearing

Stealing is not good, but it is better to save a life by stealing than loosing one just because you knew you wanted to do the right thing. I think that I would feel really bad if I'd denied food or something to someone who needs it and then dies because they didn't have what I had. People should share what they don't need. For example if I grow vegetables in my yard, I should only keep what I need for living and what is left I could share it. In my case I think I would rather help before having someone steal me. I think that also Leisel and Rudy didn't harm anyone by stealing, so I don't consider it wrong in their case. Anyways they were starving.
